# Syntropic Labs > Memory support technology for people living with dementia or mild cognitive > impairment (MCI), and for the families supporting them. Syntropic Labs builds an ambient in-home system, and wearables to follow, that passively capture a person's day and use on-device AI to help them recall it — where they left their keys, whether they took their medication, what happened that afternoon. Processing is designed around privacy: the system is built to keep the memory, not the recording. Strictly memory support — no claim to treat, cure, or slow dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or cognitive impairment. Nothing here is medical advice. - Site: https://syntropiclabs.ai/ - Founder: Spiro Khoury — spiro@syntropiclabs.ai - Areas served: Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Canada ## Products - [Products](https://syntropiclabs.ai/products): The Ambient Home System — discreet in-home sensors plus on-device intelligence that helps someone experiencing cognitive impairment stay independent at home. Available now. There is no online checkout and no list price: every home is laid out differently, so the system is scoped and priced per home after a consultation, which is booked as a call. - [Wearables](https://syntropiclabs.ai/wearables): The Glasses, The Pendant and The Clip — camera wearables that carry the same intelligence outside the home. In development, not for sale, no pricing announced. Interest is registered through the waitlist. ## Research - [Research](https://syntropiclabs.ai/research): Two peer-reviewed studies underpinning the approach — "MemPal: Leveraging Multimodal AI and LLMs for Voice-Activated Object Retrieval in Homes of Older Adults" (Maniar et al., IUI '25, MIT Media Lab, DOI 10.1145/3708359.3712151), and "It is not only memory: effects of SenseCam on improving well-being in patients with mild Alzheimer disease" (International Psychogeriatrics, 2017, DOI 10.1017/S104161021600243X). MemPal (2025): fifteen older adults used a wearable camera paired with a multimodal LLM in their own homes. Participants located objects more successfully with the assistant than without it. Small study; measured object retrieval, not a clinical outcome. SenseCam (2017): fifty-one people with mild Alzheimer's were randomised across three arms. Reviewing passively captured images reduced depressive symptoms and improved everyday functional capacity versus a written diary. Quality-of-life scores did not shift; gains had faded by six-month follow-up. ## Guides Practical notes for families and carers, written by Spiro Khoury. Same disclaimer as the rest of the site: strictly memory support, not medical advice. - [Guides index](https://syntropiclabs.ai/guides) - [Assistive technology for dementia](https://syntropiclabs.ai/guides/assistive-technology-for-dementia): Four categories — reminders, safety/location, passive memory capture, and communication aids. Match the tool to the specific problem, not the gadget. - [Helping someone who forgets where things are](https://syntropiclabs.ai/guides/helping-someone-who-forgets-where-things-are): Fixed homes for objects, fewer plausible hiding places, distinctive keyrings or tracker tags, then passive capture for things that move unpredictably (glasses). - [Memory aids for mild cognitive impairment](https://syntropiclabs.ai/guides/memory-aids-for-mild-cognitive-impairment): MCI is a better fit for lower-friction aids someone can still learn and adopt. None of them change the course of MCI. - [Wearable cameras and memory loss](https://syntropiclabs.ai/guides/wearable-cameras-and-memory-loss): What MemPal and SenseCam actually found, including limits. - [On-device AI and dementia privacy](https://syntropiclabs.ai/guides/on-device-ai-and-dementia-privacy): Why processing should happen on the device. Syntropic Labs processes video and photos in real time and does not retain them long term; raw recordings are not sent to the cloud. ## Common questions **What does Syntropic Labs make?** An ambient home system of discreet sensors and on-device intelligence that helps people with cognitive impairment stay independent at home. Wearable cameras (glasses, pendant, clip) are in development and not for sale. **How do you get the Ambient Home System?** Book a consultation. There is no online checkout and no list price; the system is scoped and priced per home. **Who is it for?** People experiencing cognitive impairment who have started losing track of everyday things, and the families supporting them. **Does it treat dementia or Alzheimer's?** No. Strictly memory support. No claim to treat, cure, or slow dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or cognitive impairment. **Do you store videos and photos?** No. Video and photos are processed in real time and are not retained long term. The system is built to keep the memory, not the recording. **Where does processing happen?** As much as possible locally in the home. Raw data is not sent to the cloud. ## Policies - [Privacy](https://syntropiclabs.ai/privacy) - [Terms](https://syntropiclabs.ai/terms)
